I am a dedicated individual who's experienced 25 years of profound emotional struggles, who relied on food, alcohol and drugs as coping mechanisms. Counselling provided a turning point, by offering me the empathy and compassion I'd so longed for. This experience sparked my passion for personal growth, and I embarked on a journey of transformation.
I was genuinely amazed by the significant impact even the smallest steps could have in my life. The desire to share these insights with others led me to choose a path of a counsellor, where I can provide the same compassionate support that transformed my life.
I firmly believe that, with the right guidance, we can all find meaning and purpose amidst the chaos of life, and I'm committed to helping others discover their own path to personal growth and healing.

My Approach

In life, unexpected experiences are a common occurrence. Many times, these unexpected and challenging events can leave us feeling overwhelmed and unprepared to cope. I firmly believe that a crucial aspect of healing lies in our capacity to navigate these lived experiences in a safe and controlled environment. This process enables us to gain insight into how our past may influence our present and shape our future.

Grief is a universal experience, yet its process is intricate and multifaceted. While we typically associate grief with the loss of a loved one, disenfranchised grief can emerge from various sources, such as job loss, injury, fertility concerns, or the end of a relationship.
Despite the prevalent notion of grief following linear "stages," it is essential to recognize that grief doesn't adhere to a fixed path. Each person's response to grief is unique, and respecting our individual healing process is crucial, as there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Unaddressed grief can impact sleep patterns, appetite, energy levels, weight, and mental clarity.

Somatic therapy offers a holistic perspective that acknowledges the deep interplay between the mind and body. This approach combines conventional psychotherapy with physical techniques to facilitate all-encompassing healing. Beyond verbal therapy, somatic therapists utilize mind-body exercises and various physical approaches to alleviate built-up tension that can affect an individual's physical and emotional health.
This approach acknowledges that thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations are intricately connected and can mutually influence each other, even when these connections may not be immediately apparent.

Our earliest relationships often serve as the foundation for our understanding of security and connection between others and ourselves. The patterns we establish in response to these early relationships can provide valuable insights into how we engage in current relationships, including the one we have with ourselves. By examining these patterns, we can gain a deeper understanding of our behaviours and how they affect our interactions with others and our self-perception.

The narrative approach effectively severs individuals from their problems and detrimental behaviors. This detachment empowers clients to create some distance from the issues they are facing, allowing them to discern how these challenges might serve a purpose or offer protection instead of causing harm.
From this vantage point, individuals gain the agency to transform their thought patterns and behaviors. They are presented with the opportunity to "rewrite" their life story, constructing a future that aligns with their genuine selves, abilities, and purpose, free from the constraints of the problems they've encountered. This approach places a strong emphasis on personal empowerment and the capacity of individuals to shape their own narratives and destinies.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a psychotherapeutic approach that views the mind as comprising multiple sub-personalities or "parts," each with distinct characteristics and emotions.
The aim of IFS therapy is to help individuals understand and reconcile these internal parts, promoting healing and personal growth. By accessing their core or "Self" and establishing a more balanced and compassionate relationship with these parts, individuals can address various psychological and emotional issues.

In person-centered therapy, the therapist serves as a compassionate facilitator who listens without judgment, fully acknowledging the client's experience. Their role is to encourage and support the client's self-discovery process, refraining from interrupting or redirecting the conversation. This approach allows the client to uncover their sources of pain and the necessary steps for healing without interference.
