How We Begin
Free Discovery Call
A discovery call is a great opportunity for you to let me know a bit more about what’s bringing you to counselling, to ask me any questions you may have and to hear a bit more about how I work and how I think I can be of help.
Intake Forms
After booking our first session together, I will send you intake paperwork. Which I ask to be completed before our first session. If you are unsure about any of the intake forms I am more then happy to go over them alongside you in session.
You will be reminded via email leading up to your appointment about our session. If you need to cancel or if circumstances change, please don’t hesitate in reaching out via email to let me know things have changed.
First Session
This is a brave first step and it’s common to feel a bit nervous during the our first session together, but i’ll strive to ensure you feel safe, comfortable and at ease.
Together we’ll discuss your objectives for therapy and establish the frequency of future sessions.
Some Common Curiosities
-
Evidence shows that one of the biggest factors for change in therapy is the relationship between the client and counsellor.
During our first therapy session together, the focus is on building a strong client-counsellor relationship. Where we will discuss your reasons for seeking counselling, your expectations and goals, and learn about your life in finer detail.
I'm open to providing information about myself if you're interested. This is another chance for us to assess if we're a good fit and establish trust for our therapeutic work together.
-
My approach to the frequency of counselling sessions is client-centered, together we can determine how often works best for you and your goals.
However most clients find it beneficial to start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions and later reassess based on their needs and affordability. The flexibility in scheduling allows for a personalized approach to therapy.
